Battery Energy Storage System

J Pierce Rd BESS

400MW Battery System located in Northern Bouldercombe, Queensland

Project Overview

400 MW BESS in Bouldercombe North, Queensland

The J Pierce Rd Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project is in the very early planning stages and is proposed to be situated in Queensland, within the Rockhampton Shire Council, occupying a land area of around 11 hectares (28 acres). Subject to approvals, the facility would offer a substantial storage capacity of 1600 megawatt-hours (MWh), playing a key role in enhancing energy stability and reinforcing local power infrastructure in the region.

Powerlink has been appointed as the network provider to ensure efficient integration into the existing regional power infrastructure. Utilising advanced lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) battery technology, known for safety, efficiency, and reliability, the J Pierce Rd BESS is designed to provide reliable energy storage solutions for the community.
